love for music and belief in it's potential for enhancing
creativity, cooperative communication, and community
have led me to expand my knowledge of world music and ethnic
traditions, and to share this knowledge
with others. My goal as a performer and educator, is
to further the concept that musical self-expression is a
joyful and positive means if communication
is
available to every individual. Through the exploration of
the musical heritage and traditions of many lands, I believe
that cultural understanding, awareness, and appreciation can
be achieved and nurtured.
Residency participants explore a variety of improvisational
techniques based on many cultural traditions while learning
to find their own unique music, story and dance within. Former
residency experience has included diverse
populations (hearing and sight impaired, seniors, early childhood)
and has an integrated curriculum including "sound" science,
math, history, and geography."
