The Bay Bass Band is a remarkable cross-over band of six outstanding professional classical and jazz bassists plus percussion perform jazz, blues, funk, contemporary, Middle-Eastern, Asian and African music to the delight of a wide range of youth and adult audiences.

The ensemble was organized in the Fall of 1995 by Barry Green and has performed to enthusiastic audiences on National Public Radio (West Coast Live), and in public performances with Ray Brown, Franqois Rabbath, John Patitucci, John Clayton, Michael Manring and Rob Wasserman.

The band frequently performs works recorded by the celebrated European Orchestra de Contrebasse from Parl's.The Bay Bass Band, with the addition of percussion, is unique to American audiences. Many outstanding composers and arrangers are writing new works for this dynamic group including John Pattitucci, Michael Manring, Don Haas, Larry Dunlap, Edward Williams, Cory Combs, and Francois Rabbath

Members of the Bay Bass Band

Barry Green, founder-director, a native Californian, has served as Principal Bassist of the Cincinnati Symphony for 28 years. As former Executive Director of the International Society of Bassists, he 'is currently directing a young bassist outreach program for the San Francisco Symphony Education Department and has organized the Northern California Bass Club.

Active as a soloist and teacher, Mr. Green has been performing to youth and adult audiences in the Bay Area as well as conducting workshops and concerts throughout the world. He has studied with the legendary Francois Rabbath and co-ordinates many of Rabbath's workshops in the USA.

Pat Klobas, CO-director, is active as a classical and jazz bassist in the Bay Area. He has recorded sound tracks for Salker Studios and played with the San Francisco Opera, California Symphony, the American Jazz Philharmonic and many Broadway theater productions. Pat has worked with several renowned jazz artists including Rosmary Clooney, Pete Escovedo, Weslia itfield and is active as a teacher for jazz and classical bassists. He is the principal jazz soloist with the Bay Bass Band.

Curt Moore, Percussionist, is active in the Bay Area performing all styles of music With a variety of artist including Jackie and Roy, Pete Escovedo, Andy Narrel, Chuck Berry, Lola Falana, Bernadette Peters, Art Pepper, Ray Brown, Bay Area Jazz Composers Orchestra as well as many commercials and recordings, A member of the Different Drums Percussion Group, he performs educational concerts for Bay Area students.

Bay Bass Band Members are active performing in Bay Area symphonies including the San Francisco Symphony, the San Francisco Opera and Ballet orchestras, and the San Jose, California, Santa Rosa, Marin, Oakland and Berkeley symphonies. They can also be heard in the S. F. and Bay Area theater orchestras, radio, TV, motion picture studios and jazz venues. The members include Stephen Tramontozzi, David Schoenbrun, Andy McCorkle, Bill Everett, Cory Combs, Joe Preussner, Tim Spears and Carl Stanley.
